UNFOUND - Short Film

This is the short film I did during the semester break with my friends. I've had the idea for about a year that it'd be cool to shoot this at my place. I waited for the winter to shoot this as the film was supposed to be set in a cold area. I had been wanting to test out more of my equipment and try out some shooting ideas. I got to experiment with different things and work with my friends.

As shown below, I did some previsualization using Cine Tracer. Then, planned out the shot list in detail. Things went pretty as planned, in terms of the visual. But there was a problem with time, that we took much longer than expected. And it was very difficult with scheduling. We shot the interior scenes using the day-for-night approach to minimize shooting days. The tough part was the night scenes. We used a snow machine to create snow practically. Lighting outside was challenging as well.

We did my favorite shot of the year in this film, which is the mirror shot, inspired by Contact (1997). This one is less complicated. I captured 3 different plates and created a virtual camera in After Effect to move in 3D space.

I got to use the Colbor CL220 quite a lot for this film and I love it! The lights from this brand are honestly amazing, and well-thought-out.

When it came to post-production, it was really a pain in the ars to colorgrade the whole thing, but I got through it eventually. I was so glad I got to work with Jordan Jinosko, an amazing, talented, and kind composer from the States. I really enjoyed working with her because she is such a great person to work with, really. She, in the end, did both sound mixing and composing for the film, and I couldn't be more happy with the audio. It's a small practice project that actually gave me more than I expected. I appreciate everyone who was involved in making this.
